Mountainside’s Residential Program offers a comprehensive and personalized approach to recovery, combining medical, psychiatric, and holistic wellness offerings to help individuals transform their lives and achieve long-term sobriety. Our 35-night residential program provides a serene and supportive environment nestled at the foot of the Berkshire mountains, away from the stress and triggers of everyday life. Through a combination of addiction education, 12 Step principles, and counseling, participants gain insight into the driving forces of their addiction and develop the tools needed to prevent relapse and successfully live a happy, healthy life in recovery.

Our inpatient residential rehab program includes gender-specific group therapy sessions, risk management discussions, trauma-focused groups, and individual counseling to address client-specific needs. In addition to clinical addiction treatment, Mountainside offers a wide range of wellness therapies, including acupuncture, adventure therapy, fitness classes, expressive therapies, and mindfulness practices to clients in our residential program. Our holistic treatment approach ensures that individuals receive tailored treatment, incorporating traditional and alternative therapies to support their unique recovery journeys.

Medical & Psychiatric Services

Our wide range of medical and psychiatric services evaluate how drug addiction and alcoholism have affected your physical and mental health. Through a series of evaluations, medical exams, and continuous monitoring, we can better understand how addiction impacts you and can determine the best course of action to address your specific recovery needs.

Physical Exam – Medical exam to evaluate your general health and determine any degree of physical issue caused by your addiction.

Psychiatric Evaluation – Sessions to determine your mental health needs, including checking for the presence of co-occurring disorders such as anxiety or depression.

Withdrawal Assessment –Evaluation of addiction withdrawal symptoms such as cravings, anxiety, and depression specific to your substance use history.

Toxicology Screenings –Breathalyzer tests and urine analysis to check for the presence of drugs or alcohol in your body, and help you stay accountable in recovery.

Nutritional Assessment – One-on-one evaluation to assess the toll substance abuse has taken on your body and address your most imminent nutritional needs.

Pharmacogenetic Test – Collection of your genetic information to better understand how medications used as part of your addiction treatment will affect your body.

MEDucation –Workshops highlighting the benefits of medications in treating co-occurring disorders as well as proper medication management after discharge.

Individual Counseling – One-on-one sessions with a clinician to help you process thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to gain a clearer understanding of your inner-self and develop and strive towards personalized treatment goals.

Group Counseling – Daily clinician-facilitated therapy sessions that enable you to openly express yourself and explore issues with others who can relate to and understand addiction-related concerns.

Gender Group – Men-only and women-only groups to discuss gender-specific issues in recovery such as self-esteem, societal and cultural pressures, family dynamics, and interpersonal relationship issues.

Recovery Education – Curriculum designed to explain how alcoholism or drug addiction has impacted your life and what to be mindful of in the recovery process.

12 Step Education – Discussions based on 12 Step literatures from peer support groups like Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous, focusing on recovery.

Building a Recovery Network – Educational group that explores how to develop a sober support network, including an introduction to our Alumni Services.

Acupuncture – Traditional Chinese medicinal practice of using needles to stimulate specific points on the body to re-balance energy, ease aches and pan, and promote circulation.

Adventure Therapy – Experiential activities to help you go beyond your comfort zone and build confidence in your abilities to surmount any challenges that may arise in your recovery journey.

Nutrition Education – Lessons designed to create mindful eating habits by exploring the role nutrition plays in recovery. Activities include label reading, food preparation, and food tastings.

Mindfulness – Therapies to help increase your self-awareness and sense of control, allowing you to let go of negative emotions and make clearer, more thought-out decisions.

Therapeutic Art – Emotional exploration and personal fulfillment through art therapy techniques including drawing, painting, collage-making, and hands-on crafts.

Meditation – Practice of centering the mind on breathing and sensations of the body to achieve mental clarity, cultivate serenity, and emotional stability.

Family Wellness

At Mountainside, we understand that drug and alcohol abuse can shatter family relationships. Our Family Wellness Services help you recognize and address the impact that your addiction has had on those around you so that you can begin to rebuild strained bonds and receive the support you need to succeed in recovery.

Individual Family Counseling – One-on-one sessions to help you understand and analyze your current family dynamics, discusses the negative impact that damaged relationships can have on your progress, and explore the best ways to repair them.

Family Counseling – Joint family therapy sessions to open the lines of communication between you and your loved ones, allowing you and your family to devise a plan together for a healthier relationship moving forward.

Family Dynamics Group – Discussion of how your addiction has impacted your family, how your family has impacted you and your addiction, as well as the role your family members and friends play in your treatment and recovery.

Continuing Care

Our goal is not only to help you achieve sobriety but to help you successfully adjust to your new sober life outside of treatment. Your case manager will work closely with you, your clinician, and your loved ones to ensure that you have the tools and support to move forward in your recovery.
